How to use a printable dollhouse scale ruler
Select the scale used by your dollhouse (1:6, 1:12, 1:24 or 1:48), choose a physical ruler length, and download the PDF. There are three independent strips: real inches to calibrate your printer, scale feet to measure models, and optional real millimeters to check precision.
What do 1:12, 1:24 and 1:6 scale mean?
At 1:12, one printed inch represents twelve full-size inches: one real-world foot. At 1:6, a full-size foot occupies two printed inches. At 1:24, a full-size foot occupies half an inch. The scale-foot strip numbers the full-size feet represented by the short physical ruler.
Print at 100%: the essential calibration step
Choose the same US Letter or A4 size in your printer dialog and select Actual Size or 100%; disable Fit to Page. First, check the upper real-inch strip against your own ruler. If it does not measure correctly, the scale-foot strip will also be inaccurate. For an additional test, use the Print Calibration Sheet with 1-inch and 10-mm squares.
Measuring miniature furniture and dollhouse plans
Place the scale-foot strip next to your miniature furniture or measured plan. The numbers represent equivalent full-size feet, not inches on the paper. For example, a table two full-size feet wide should read 2 feet on the chosen scale strip. For wallpaper or floors that must fit an existing room, measure the physical miniature wall or floor with the actual-inch strip.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this scale ruler for Barbie-scale models?
Yes. Choose 1:6 for commonly used fashion-doll scale. Measure actual print accuracy before using the scale markings.
Is the scale ruler accurate in my browser preview?
No. The preview is enlarged or reduced by your display. The PDF stores exact 72-point-per-inch measurements; only a physical print at 100% can confirm printer accuracy.
Can I print an A4 scale ruler?
Yes. Both US Letter and A4 are supported; the PDF is sized for the selected paper.
